Green

IMHO, yun angat ng Pilipino is slowly diminishing because we sometimes fail to acknowledge that there are real competition outside our fences. I do think they would play moneygames with Filipinoes given the right time and place. Or maybe they already do. Di lang natin siguro nakikita.

Sana lang mai-angat pa ng mga Pilipino ang laro nila whether in tournaments or Moneygames. Pag tournament kasi, you play every match as if your life depended on it. A true champion can win on both. That is why Efren is special (may tutulad pa kaya sa kanya).

Just my 1/2 cent.

i think, i posted on a diff thread and asking...

A TRUE CHAMPION!"...

I think Japoy raised some excellent points.

We have to admit that players from other countries are getting better and that their top players are at par with our players at least. They have the benefit of competing in various tournaments all over the world almost 12 months a year. Kadalasan, puro tayo-tayo naglalaban at kung maglaban man, pustahan at di tournament.

We also have to realize that games like 8 ball, 9 ball and even 10 ball are unpredictable. In short races like what they have in tournaments, it's anybody's game--especially with the skills that all pro players have. Siguro sa rotation lamang na lamang tayo, but then wala namang rotation world championships. Laughing Sa 8 ball, 9 ball and 10 ball kasi, strong pocketing can win you games.

I think our players are definitely among the world's best and more international tournaments can only make them better.

well said Icetea
but problem here is fundings as you know many of the pool players here will only depend on their managers, we know very well how this works. but there are some managers that are really helpful to their players.
our players here are at least to blame too, not everyone are good in managing there own careers, unlike the international players where their affliated clubs sponsors their international stints, some well know players are by their own expenses too.
like our own players, once you bring them abroad, initial intention is to play tournament, after which to hustler someone there by playing money games at night till wee hours in the morning, how can they improve if lack of sleep, less eat(there are times small budget for meals, pang kain na lang ipusta pa)not everyday is xmas, they win they loss. no discipline at all

hopefully our government can do something about it since supporting our athletes is one of their priorities, but sad to sad due to politics manuevering many were not even supported.

well the only way a person can be rich is living in a corrupt country as said by a businessman.

I agree with you Mr. Joy Laughing

In the Philippines, all sports associations cannot rely on the government for financial assistance. Basically, each sports association must get sponsors to fund the participation of their athletes to international competitions. The problem for pool is that it is hard to get sponsors because pool is still being associated with gambling, smoking and drinking. This impression limits the sponsors we can get for pool players.

But wala na tayong magagawa diyan eh. I think changing the system would be nearly impossible right now. However, it is possible to look for new talents that are not yet "corrupted" by the system and place them under a responsible organization. This organization can look for sponsors and can map out the careers of these new talents. These talents must be exposed to tournaments abroad and must be given financial and educational support. Hopefully, in about 10 years or less, these young talents will be ripe enough to be world champions.

Parang wishful thinking...hehehehehe....pero di mo masabi.

idiotic? i call it realistic and practical - if only it concerns the support for the philippine team.

not because my view differ from yours means it is idiotic. how would you feel if i say everything you say is plain stupid? just because it doesn't conform to my own?

hypocrisy IS idiotic. Cool
